What's this thing called "the big nasty"? After gradually climbing through Spanish Valley south of Moab, the elevation begins to ascend for a challenging 3,000 foot climb in seven miles. Nicknamed "The Big Nasty", this climb is broken into 3 main sections offering the rider short breaks in between. An extra AID station and SAG wagon is positioned in this area for extra support. Once in the mountains the rider is rewarded with a memorable cruise along the graceful contours of this rich, mountain landscape. The descent back to the canyons below leaves the rider in awe of the grand scale of this magical place.
If you must have the magical 100 number and you've successfully conquered the 5,350 climbing elevation from the Metric Century, add the Rolling Down The River route and clock in at 105 miles. Route will be well-marked. Read descriptions and review map.
