Allis and Lance
Bob attended last year's Skinny Tire Festival and will return this year with his wife, Allis, a native of Denmark, whom he met and married in 1968. They live in Boulder City, Nevada. Please read Bob's tribute to Allis following her award presentation from Lance Armstrong.
Allis and Bob at Ride for the Roses Event
Allis, who has quietly worked for cancer causes ever since I met and married her in 1968, was the recipient of the Livestrong Challenge Award presented by Lance Armstrong. It was pointed out that she was not a participant in the event or a cancer survivor as all of the past recipients have been, but a dedicated volunteer. I was so happy for her and she gave a humble speech thanking nurses and doctors who spend so much time studying and working to fight the monster "c". Like the song "Wind Beneath My Wings" she was content to let others shine, walk a step behind, in everybody's shadow. She certainly has the strength and is at least the wind beneath my wings. For those of you who do not know, Allis lost her mother to melanoma when Allis was only 8. She is my hero! - Bob Sega
