The real scoops of sand on why people raise money for LAF and The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.

Josh.....awarded the Messenger Award for having the largest outreach about the LAF cause with over 70 individual donations.  Josh dedicated his fundraising effort in honor of his friend Tracy Sweet who recently began her bone marrow transplant procedure.

STF-Day03-132 Jeff W., awarded the Spirit of Survivorship for his passionate embracement of life and for enriching the lives of those he has touched.  ....a four year gioblastoma brain cancer survivor, serves on the National Brain Tumor Foundation and volunteers with his wife to assist other families with young children when a cancer diagnosis occurs in their hometown of Helena, Montana.

STF-Social-052Jake..... "The Skinny Tire Festival is a celebration of life and the fight for life.  Both my parents died from cancer, my father when I was quite young.  The Festival allows me to combine my passion for cycling with raising funds to help others in their battle with cancer.  I encourage everyone who comes to Moab to participate in this great event to join me in raising money for the LAF - that's really why we're here".

Jeff D. ...Jeff dedicated his efforts to the memory of Mark Cuss, "Cussy, a young man in Canada Jeff met on the TC Net....they had never physically met.  Cussy was diagnosed with advanced testicular cancer and wasn't able to get appropriate treatment where he lived.  Jeff made arrangements to have Cussy seen by doctors at Sloan Kettering in an expedient manner....and flew to NY from California to support him and his dad through this trying time.  Cussy lost his battle soon after, but forever lives in the hearts of many...especially through Jeff and his efforts.

Flint...."the Festival gives those of us touched by cancer a wonderfully positive outlet to make a difference in the fight against a disease that can have so many negative connotations.  The organizer and those attending are there to celebrate life, and the event is all the more inspirint because of it".  Flint's father passed away March 27, 2007.

Betsy Spiegel- Collected over $750 from friends, students, and  faculty members of Clayton Middle School.  She had a total of 35 individual donations with the average donor age being 13.  The money was donated in honor of a teacher at the school who is currently receiving cancer treatment.  Everyone at Clayton Middle School wants "Heidi Meadows to LIVESTRONG!"
