Recently, we at Skinny Tire Events sent out a survey to all our Skinny Tire Festival participants from the March '06 event. We sent it hoping for some insight as to what they thought about the event. What came back was astounding! We had canvassed riders before, but this was our first true survey. We'll share the results next time, but I'd like to say a few things now.

The survey indicated a vast number of you had a motivating experience while in Moab and felt well cared for. As a group, you are exceedingly purposeful in your choice of events, very sharing with comments, and even gracious about criticism. Yes, a couple of you said the event was poor, OUCH! But I say thanks for your honesty and taking the time to write a comment. I read them and they were good grounding for future planning. When my feelings heal up, I'll see if I can still plan. This isn't my day job and my skin isn't thick enough...Smile  I sincerely care about your experience at our events and personally knowing many of you is what motivates me. Let me share a couple of your stories.

One guy took the opportunity to back country ski in Moab after the Skinny Tire Festival. He ran across a couple stuck and stranded for hours in their rental SUV, about to miss their flight. He was able to get close enough to them with his vehicle to get a tow strap hooked up and tow them out. The couple wanted to know how they could show thanks. He said, please donate to my fund with Skinny Tire Festival. Pretty cool answer. And they did. Great ripple effect! Then there's one of you who decides you are grateful for your own personal prosperity and shares it by writing a big check. You never advertised it. But you didn't stop there either. You asked others to carve out a share of their own prosperity. They did and your fundraising continued to grow.

I know some of you are currently grappling with cancer yourself. I stand in awe watching you find the strength to continue to move so gracefully in life. Then there's the explorers. You know who you are. You came out on your own to let your friends know what was here in canyon country. Then went back, spread the word, and now you have a team that makes the pilgrimage with you each year. To share like that is how grassroots beginnings change the world.

I believe you all love road cycling and use that passionate energy to do something about the issue of cancer in the world. Oh yeah, we also like the Lance Armstrong Foundation and focus the product of our sport with them. Live Strong! Works for me!
