Moab Skinny Tire Events was founded in 2001 after losing his older brother to cancer, Mark Griffith wanted to find a way to deal with his grief. He wanted to do something.  He put purpose to his cycling and began the Moab Skinny Tire Festival with a few close friends to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.  Twelve riders signed up that first year and the ride is now capped at one thousand riders as it enters it's eighth year.

The Moab Century Tour was founded in 2003 and gained fame for it's challenging ride over the La Sal Loop road or what has been nicknamed the "Big Nasty".  This climb has 3000 feet sustained elevation gain in 7 miles.  Riders are rewarded for their efforts as they cruise down into the spectacular Castle Valley with redrock formations. This ride is also capped at 1000 cyclists to maintain a quality cycling experience.

Through the efforts of the riders, Skinny Tire Events has donated over $500,000 to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
