Proper Nutrition for Endurance Athletes Print E-mail
Nutrition
Tuesday, 09 October 2007
By CTS Senior Coach, Rhonda Mayo

Proper nutrition is not a diet-it is a lifestyle choice; be careful NOT to become overly clinical about nutrition. My goal is to help explain how to match your nutritional intake to your caloric demands. One of the most disappointing feelings is running out of energy or ‘bonking’, energy comes from food and fluids- you have to keep it in balance. Endurance athletes spending 5-8 hours riding during a century need to follow these simple suggestions below:

Dinosaurs in the desert Print E-mail
Red Dirt
Thursday, 27 September 2007
Not many people can say they have walked in the footsteps of pre-historic dinosaurs, and literally our 'Century' and 'Climbing 70' riders will be able to do just that. After completing the final climb to the top of Fisher Mesa, cyclists will be able to take their shoes off, grab a pair of flip-flops, or bare-foot it over to the amazing Theropod site to compare foot sizes.

Red Dirt

Last weekend we bicycled the Glenwood Springs bike path with our 16 year old son who somehow has reached 6'3", surpassing his Dad, and our soon to be 3 year old daughter.  Rounding a corner we saw cyclists pulled over and pointing to the cliff above.  Simultaneously rocks began to trickle down the slope landing a bit too close.  We pulled over ourselves and had a great view of big horn sheep frolicking 80 feet above.

Moab Century Tour Route Change Possible Print E-mail
Red Dirt
Thursday, 24 May 2007
very good "A" route has a backup "B" route.  Historically The Moab Century Tour cyclists choosing the 65 or 100-mile routes traveled over the scenic La Sal Loop road from the south side of Moab dropping into Castle Valley.  This approach earned the nickname "The Big Nasty" due to the 3000 feet elevation gain in 7 miles on the east side of the Loop.  Ouch!  However, the Federal Highway Administration is replacing the bridge over Mill Creek about half way along the Loop Road and traffic at the bridge site is now closed.  So what does that mean for all of us Moab Century Tour riders?
