102 Mile Route

Following the 65 Climb Route, this tour offers the strong rider an option of additional miles at the completion of the descent from the mountains.  The 102 route travels up the canyon along the Colorado River passing the whimsical rock formation of Fisher Towers to the historic Dewey Bridge that burned in April 2008 then continues 7 more miles to the Kokopelli Mountain Bike Trail as the turnaround point.  Terrain here is rolling hills with a few short climbs; moderate grades.  Return to Moab along the scenic Colorado River with all other riders.

65 Mile Route

Known as the spectacular La Sal Loop, this route rises from the sculptured canyons of the mighty Colorado River into the majestic 12, 271 foot Manti-La Sal mountains outside of Moab.  After gradually climbing through Spnaish Valley south of Moab, the elevation begins to ascend for a challenging 3,000 foot climb in seven miles. Nicknamed "The Big Nasty", this climb is broken into 3 main sections offering the rider short breaks in between.  An extra AID station and SAG wagon is positioned in this area for extra suport.  Once in the mountains the rider is rewarded with a memorable cruise along the graceful contours of this rich, mountain landscape.  The descent back to the canyons below leaves the rider in awe of the grand scale of this magical place.

Begin your ride with plenty of miles for great social spinning along side the famous Colorado River. The route immediately places you in the river corridor at the foot of towering sandstone cliffs. Pass by a rookery on the north side of the river just after first AID station where great blue herons may be perched watching the circus go by. The terrain here is rolling hills with a few short climbs; moderate grades.  Enjoy the magical contours of this river corridor as you pass the whimsical rock formations of Fisher Towers past the historic Dewey Bridge to the Kokopelli Mountain Bike Trail head wtih AID Station support as your turnaround.  As with most landscape around Moab, the scenic look and feel is quite different when traveling in reverse direction.
